Meet Our Pastor

Reverend Dr. Gerald W. Brown

Rev. Dr. Gerald W. Brown, Th.D., holds a Doctor of Theology from the Jellett Institute of Bible Technology, California University of Theology.  He presently serves as the Senior Pastor of Mt. Moriah Christian Church, a nondenominational church located in the Mira Mesa community of San Diego. Rev. Dr. Brown is the proud father of Anntoinette, Hardeja, AnGerica, Jake, Joshua and Grace. The proud Grandfather of ten Grand Loves and two Great Grand Loves.

He also serves as the Executive Director for the City of San Diego Citizen’s Advisory Board (C.A.B.) on Police/Community Relations, and the Interim Executive Director for the Human Relations Commission.

 

Before joining the City of San Diego Rev. Dr. Brown served as Executive Director of the United African American Ministerial Action Council (UAAMAC).  Through organizing and working with local law enforcement agencies to provide safer communities. UAAMAC’s Gift Card and Skateboards for Guns Program, the organization removed over Five Thousand guns and other weapons from the streets of San Diego County.  This program has been internationally recognized in Great Britain, Germany and Austria.

 

Rev. Dr. Brown previously served as the Transitional Case Manager/Chaplain for the San Diego Rescue Mission Men’s Center. Also, Rev. Dr. Brown is a founding member of the San Diego County District Attorney’s Interfaith Ministerial Advisory Board, and a return Lecturer at the San Diego Regional Leadership Institute.

 

Rev. Dr. Brown is also the co-founder and president of FarmChef2HomePlate, a 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Non-profit organization dedicated to the transformation of the lives of homeless brothers and sisters through sporting activities and events. He leads the nationally recognized Southeastern San Diego Cardiac Disparities Project, which engages faith organizations to create sustainable plans to protect heart health.

As a retired United States Marine of 22 years, Pastor Dr. Brown has traveled the world, and experienced man’s humanity and inhumanity toward man. Those experiences have impassioned Rev. Dr. Brown to work toward improving the condition of his fellow man. He has also served as the Co-Chair of the San Diego Clean Air Coalition, a board member of the C.S.A. of San Diego County (Fair Housing Agency), and the Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice (ICWJ). Rev. Dr. Brown is a Veteran Community Mediator for the National Conflict Resolution Center.

 

Rev. Dr. Brown has served as the church’s janitor, Sunday school teacher, Bible class teacher, a Deacon, Men’s ministry president, pastor’s adjutant, and the Assistant Pastor.

 

Rev. Dr. Brown has received many accolades and has been recognized for his achievements, including but not limited to the following:
